Right now

I love that Connor dances all the time. I love that he loves to read. I love when he and Lyla play together. I love that Connor bears his testimony every fast Sunday. I love that he is quick to forgive and feels sorry whenever he does something wrong.

I love that Lyla does 400 kartwheels a day. I love that she puts sounds together to make words and loves to write. I love Lyla's passion as she sings songs. I love being her preschool teacher. I love that she snuggles her daddy and has him wrapped around her little finger.

I love that Sarah smiles at me. I love that she is starting to laugh. I love the way she looks at Chris when he sings. I love to watch Connor pick her up and play with her. I love to watch Lyla sooth her when she is sad.

I love to watch Chris play with our kids. I love to watch him teach them about the scriptures. I love to hear the garage door open when he is home from work. I love going to dinner, just me and him. I love that I have been married to him for 9 1/2 years.

Traditions

Traditions are what bring families together. 

I love creating traditions with my little family of five. Some of things we did this Christmas are:

         -Neighborhood gingerbread contest (The Lanes always win: I guess we will call that a tradition too)

         -Taking Connor and Lyla shopping to buy gifts for each other (they always seem to know the perfect gift)

         -Wilson family party with a visit from Santa. The excitement at that party is unmatched! 

          -Rowland family bowling party at the U

          -Acting out the nativity with cousins on Christmas Eve...I want to have the faith that my children have

          -Chris telling the kids they have to make their bed, brush their teeth and about 10 other things before we walk out, youngest to oldest, to see what Santa left. Its amazing to see how fast the kids move!

          -Connor doing the Christmas Tree Dance...the kid has moves

          -Panini Party on Christmas Night with the people who matter most

It was a beautiful Christmas Season. I am so grateful for he who makes it possible to celebrate this time of year, Jesus Christ. He was born, he lived a perfect life,  he died for each of us and he lives again. He makes it all possible.

A New Year's Resolution

I've set an early New Year's resolution...be a better journal keeper. I've decided that one way to do that is to keep up on our blog. I guess I'll start by saying we have a new addition. Sarah Elaine Wilson was born on August 30, 2011. Her birth was very different from my other two. I was induced with both Connor and Lyla. I had an epidural with Connor and Lyla and Chris was with me with Connor and Lyla. Chris stays in Price every Monday night. Sarah decided she wanted to see just how fast Chris could get from Price to Layton. (He did it in about 2 hours!) At about 11:15 my water broke. I called Chris, who had been asleep for about 30 minutes. He jumped out of bed, grabbed his stuff and headed down the canyon. Meanwhile, I woke up my mom, she had come up from Arizona the day before, just in case I went into labor while Chris was in Price (Thank goodness!). I called my neighbor to watch Connor and Lyla (Thanks Jamie) and we headed to the hospital. I wasn't in too much pain at that point. I checked into the hospital and got settled in the room. The nurse called the anesthesiologist because I believe that who ever invented the epidural was truly inspired by Heavenly Father. My contractions were getting closer and really hard. The nurse had called my doctor and then she checked to see how I was progressing. At that point she got ready to deliver the baby. I had gone from a 6 to a 10 in ten minutes! My doctor ran in as I started pushing. Keep in mind I still had no epidural...I felt like one of those crazy ladies you see on TV. I kept saying I can't do this without medicine, I can't do this without medicine! The nurse finally said, "You're going to have to". I was struggling because Chris wasn't there and the thought had never crossed my mind I would have to deliver a child without medication (I don't think I want to do it again either!) I pushed a couple times and she made her entrance into the world weighing 8 lbs at 12:40 am. I had survived (barely!) Chris met his daughter about 40 minutes later. I'm not sure he will ever get over missing the birth...I think it will always bother him just a little bit. He works so hard for our family and I am grateful for that. It makes for a good story too. Sarah is such a fun addition to our family. We all love her to pieces. She fits right in.

Slug

Ask my husband and kids and they will probably tell you I've been a slug lately...sleeping lots, not making dinner, doing the laundry, or cleaning the house as often as I should...but it should all be worth it in about 6 months! Wilson baby #3 should arrive sometime the end of August!

I'm really bad at blogging...

I am not a good blogger...i enjoy reading others blogs because I really do like to see what everyone else is doing and some of them are so creative. Our blog is well, not creative and pretty much a VERY inconsistent list of things we do with a few pictures added here and there. So to add to that...here are a few more pictures with a list of things we've been up to. If you look at this post please leave a comment...Just curious to see who still looks at our blog. Thanks.

We signed Connor up for Jr. Darts this year...he loved it! He is a little baller...all the time in the unfinished basement has really paid off!

Lyla is in gymnastics and every morning she wakes up and asks if it is gymnastics day today...she loves it!

Camping

At the beginning of August we were invited by our neighbors up to their property by Lava Hot Springs to go camping.

There was a little pond that had a rope swing. This is one of the boys that was there with us going off the rope. The kids swam in the pond.

Watching an exciting game of horseshoes..We did a lot of this. It can be addicting! Thanks for the great weekend Katie and Steve!

Trip to Arizona

This summer I took the kids and went to Arizona for three weeks. The kids did swim lessons in my parents pool with Ms. Shelly and we hung out with cousins and played, played, played! Chris even surprised us and drove down to see us one weekend. Here are some pictures from the trip.

We did a little of everything:

1. Lyla learned to swim with her face in the water...the first day of lessons I wasn't sure she would get there...I chased her around my parents backyard and had to literally throw her in the pool. Very comical for all the spectators!

2. Connor learned to do the butterfly stroke..best thing to watch!

3. Played lots of hoops in my parents entry way..I would say my brothers enjoyed having the hoop there more than the grandkids.

4. Watched the Diamondbacks play a game.

5. Celebrated my dad's birthday.

6. Lake trips...A true joy in life!

7. A couple rounds of golf...It's my new favorite past time.

8. Made lots of fun memories..hey that is what life is about!

First day of School

My Con is a big first grader!

He likes first grade but thinks he as at school a few hours too long. He came home the first day and said, "that was such a long day, is tomorrow a short day?"

Lyla, on the other hand, was very upset she had to wait two extra weeks to start. On her first day she was dressed and ready to go, with her backpack on, an hour before she needed to leave. When we finally left to take her to preschool she said, "Mom, please don't walk me to the door, I want to do it myself." She came home the first day and said, "I only played for a little bit, then I had to go home." Needless to say, she loves preschool!

Toothless Connor

When you don't get your teeth until your 15 months old, you don't lose them very early..much to Connor's dismay! He watched with great envy as his friends in Kindergarten lost their teeth. After MUCH wiggling, it FINALLY came out!

4th of July 2010

We went to one of my all time favorite spots over the 4th of July. I grew up going to McCall Idaho every summer. We went back there this summer for a family reunion with my parents, siblings, and my cousins. It was just a great as I remember it.

Go Yankees

Chris is not going to be thrilled that we have a blog post titled "Go Yankees"! Con played T-ball this year and loved it. He was so excited to get his shirt and hat. It was a proud moment for Chris when the coach saw Connor's swing for the first time and told everyone to back up.

Connor is six! He really wanted a Nike party...he loves to wear nike clothes and play basketball downstairs. He even told his friends that everyone that came to his party would get nike shoes. We didn't get shoes for everyone, but had a great party! Here is everyone in their Nike gear showing off their shot.

Lyla Rae is Three!

I can't believe my Lou is three! She is getting so big! She loves the book Pinkalicious, so we decided to have a Pinkalicious birthday party! Here she is with her BIG cupcake. She kept telling me she was going to wake up pink the next day, and I would have to take her to the doctor and she wouldn't be able to eat pink bubble gum, pink cupcakes, or pink cotton candy. (Read the book Pinkalicious if that doesn't make any sense to you.)

On the way to Idaho we saw this cafe named after Connor...he was so excited to see his name!

We went to Boise to help my grandpa celebrate his 85th birthday. There were 24 of us there. After dinner we all asked my grandpa questions about his life...listening to him share his life experiences was worth the trip! He is a pretty private person and I loved hearing him talk about who he dated, where they hung out, what jobs he did growing up, his time in the military, and describing what is was like to be a dad. Priceless!

It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year

We spent Christmas in Boise with my grandparents, my parents, and my brother Steve and sister in law Breck. It was good to spend time with everyone. It was very relaxing (except when we were playing Settlers of Catan, blasted 7!). My grandparents really enjoyed Connor and Lyla and the spirit they brought to Christmas. I feel like my kids are the perfect age for Christmas. Excitement radiated from them and everything they did. They were so grateful for everything they opened. They reminded me daily what Christmas is all about.

So Thoughtful!

My Connor is getting more and more thoughtful as he gets older. Everyday he amazes me as he thinks of others and tries to make people happy. We were at a football game and he saw a guy who was sitting by himself. He leaned over to Chris and said, "We should sit by that guy so he isn't alone." Lyla has been sick and the first thing Connor said to me was, "I'm going to pray for her to feel better." Chris left for the Moab guys trip on Thursday and just after he left Connor said to me, "I hope dad has fun." The other night at dinner Connor was saying the prayer and he said, "I'm thankful for the opportunity to come to earth and be with my family." I need to be a lot more like him... ironic that Heavenly Father sends us children so we can learn from them.

One more Connor story. A couple Sundays ago we all went to Sacrament meeting. Connor leaned over to me during the meeting and said, "I don't feel good." He kept saying it so Chris and I decided Chris would take Con and Lyla home and I would get a ride home from chruch. Lyla freaks out because she can't go to nursery and I look at Con and say, "Are you sure you aren't just trying to get out of being at church?" He told me he wasn't. Connor gets home and says to Chris, "Let's play football." Chris says, "I thought you were sick?" To which Connor replies, "I just wanted to come home from church." This leads to a conversation about not lying and what Connor needs to do. I walk in the door and the first thing Con says to me is, "I'm sorry mom, I told you I was sick because I wanted to come home from church." At dinner that night, Connor said the prayer and in his prayer he said, "I'm sorry I didn't stay at church and said I was sick." Chris and I had a good laugh, and it was a good teaching moment...Connor was truly sorry and he is starting to learn about repentance.
